From what I heard, it costs more money for items and also take a vacation there first and see if you like it and ask other visitors about it and see what they think/say.

  2. dali333 Says:

yes english, yes veryfriendly but they want you to visit not move there. sure you can live by the beach but you better be rich, crime rate not very high, climates range from desert to snow in the mountains. great place to have a family. you can see hula dancing at lots and lots of places.
move there if you can afford it…VERY expensive, and be prepared to get a cold shoulder from natives. again, they love tourists, but stay living on the mainland if you want to keep them smiling
    aloha!

  3. Matt D Says:

  4. imagine_tha_possibilities Says:

Well I have lived on the island of Oahu for about 3 years so here it goes…
    1. Of course Hawaiians speak English.
    2. It’s just regular state. Some people are friendly some are not.
    3. Yes you can live by the beach but it’s pretty expensive. A lot of apartments average $2000.00 a month for a 2 bedroom.
    4. The crime rate is not horrible but my opinion is kind of skewed because I live on a military installation.
    5. It’s usually 70 – 80 degrees year round.
    6. It is a great place to start a family, but the educational system could use a lot of work.
    7. There are plenty of schools here and see #6.
    8. Great family environments all along the island.
    9. Hawaii along with DC is one of the most expensive states to live in.
    10. You can build a beach house if you have a ton of money.
    11. Depending on where you work. Most pharmacist make good money, just do some more research.
    12. Nah, luaus are held every weekend and you can go to Waikiki almost anytime and see one.

*Note: If you love road trips Hawaii is obviously not the place for you. Also there is are a lot of ****** undertones here for White people, due to Hawaii’s history. Other than that I have enjoyed staying here, but I plan on living in Europe next.

    Good Luck!

  5. Malia G Says:

Alright I am native Hawaiian and reside in the states.
1.Yes Hawaiian’s speak english but they also speak whats known as pigeon which is a combination of words from different languages such as hawaiian, english, chinese, japanese, and portugese,&fillipino.Pigeon has its own kind of cadence and be a little difficult to understand I suggest getting a book called Pigeon to Da Max which will help you better understand:)

2.Yes Native Hawaiians are very friendly as well as the several different cultures located on the islands.

3.Yes you can live by the beach if you are able to afford beachfront property.

4.The crime rate isn’t as high as say New York or Chicago more on the scale of lets say a smaller city like Kansas City,Mo.

5.Well it can get a little cold in the mornings when the wind comes off the ocean and it tends to rain off and on but it never gets too cold or too hot mid 80′s during summer time .

6.In my opinion yes it is but then I’m totally bias lol I won’t fib to you hehehe.Hawaiian communities are so diverse and there are so many cultures out there that all families are one unit almost.

7.Yes there are schools there have to be silly

8.Yes Hawaii is as safe as any other place.

9.Yes it is very costly there’s a high cost of living but for its beauty, people, and climate it pays off.

10.I don’t see why not you’d have to buy the land though which can be costly…

    11.Yes

12.No you don’t there is a festival held every year called The Merry Monarch where several hula halau’s (hula classes) travel from all around the world to compete. It does cost money but its a beautifully amazing experience. There is also a place on Oahu that you can go to that is family oriented and teaches you about the native hawaiians and other surrounding islands and cultures that are similar called The Polynesian Cultural Center. Also an amazing place to visit…

And the food like I keep saying its so diverse out there so many different cultures.Once you’ve had the chinese food out there anything else in any other state will pale in comparison.Sushi is greattttt if you’re into that.Portugese food and filluipino food should also be tried as they are unique.Me I totally love and miss the Hawaiian foods that I was raised on:) Oh and if you try poi at a luau make sure you add milk and sugar just trust me on that:)

    Hope That Helped,
    M.G

  6. Usaneko Says:

    1. Do Hawaiians speak English? Yes, we speak english… We are americans.
    2. Are the people friendly? Just like anywhere else you go, you’ll find friendly people and not friendly people. For the most part, if you’re respectful of the people here, you’ll be fine.
    3. Can you live by the beach? Sure, all you’ll need is about $1.2 mil to buy the house.
    4. Is the crime rate high..? Nope, but it is on the rise. Mostly, it’s a drug epidemic that’s been sweeping the state, thanks to green harvest.
5.What is the climate like..? Only in Hawaii can you find 9 of the 11 different climates in the world. Depending on what island you go to you could be in rain, heat, even snow, but one thing will always be the same, it’s HUMID.
    6. Is it a great place to start a family..? The best. I would never dream of taking my daughter anywhere else, even if it is expensive to live here. The values your children will learn here are worth more than anything.
    7. Is there schools, if I do start a family.? Um… What? Of course there are schools.
    8. Is it a safe enviroment for my family.? Like I said earlier, so long as you’re respectful of the people you’ll be fine. I honestly can’t think of a safer place. Children are the top priority in Hawaii.
    9. is it costly…? Oooooh yeah. $5 for a gallon of milk… Be prepared and have something saved. You’ll want to sort out your living situation before you get here, but the unemployment rate is the lowest in the nation.
    10. Can I build a beach house..? In a matter of speaking. You can buy a beachfront lot and build a house, but you can’t build it on the actual beach.
    11. can I live there on a Pharmacist salary…? The average pay is higher here than where ever you are. You’d be surprised in the difference. Starting pay at most low-end jobs are $9.50. As a pharmacist, you’ll probably be fine.
    12. Do you have to live on a resort to see Hula dancing..? Nope. In fact, you can probably find a halau (class) near where ever you decide to settle. If you have a family here, your kids will do hula every year they’re in school for May Day.

Hope that helped you, send me an e-mail if you have any further questions ^.^
