How can I move out to Hawaii and just live?

Doanld H asked:

I’m about to graduate high school this year, and I truly have no idea of a career. I have aspirations that I would love to carry out once my career is settled, but for now I kinda just want to get away and just live my life. Are there any hotel resorts that give you a room and allow you to work for them, because that would be my ideal life, work whenever and then be on the beach the rest. I guess I sound lazy but I just have to do me, now I’m most likely going to go to college first but I still wanna weigh my options and know it for life after school. So any words of advice of the resort life or anything like that would be great. Thanks for the posts!

Well, I have a friend who works for a local hotel and the only thing he gets if he stays there is a reduced rate. I don’t know of any hotels that do room/board for work. Sorry.

When my husband worked for a large hotel chain in Honolulu, the best he got was a discount when we were on vacation.

if you are a rich person then you can live here…

there alot of homeless people here and they have jobs.

most people here have 1 to 3 jobs just to live…

unless you have a degree and know someone in a certain business..then do not even try

just come out for a visit…great vacation spot.

You might be able to find a work/board type position at a Bed and breakfast. I’d be very surprised if they’d hire a recent high school grad though. Good luck.

dont live in hawaii….i am stationed in hawaii. It is a beautiful place to visit and vacation and for those getting married…but to live…..no…..if u want to pay $7.00 for a gallon of milk and spend 2 hours in traffic and want to look at tents and homeless people crowding the beaches then go ahead….dont get me wrong i would live here for the beach and only the beach…its so expensive….houses here run about a half million and back in the states would run you about 50,000 ……just vacation here…..
