Things to Review When Planning a Hawaii Vacation

Occasionally we all need a little time away from the anxieties of everyday life. A Hawaii vacation package will give you time in the sun to rest and enjoy yourself.

One of the better things about Hawaii is that the temperature is always mild. Even in the summer season, the trade winds will usually create a cooling breeze and there are plenty of beaches and sparkling blue ocean for a swim. During the winter, the temperatures are warm enough for surfing and to enjoy the water. In fact, during the winter months, the surf is often bigger that provide some of the best surfing in the world.

Visit all six of the islands if you’d like, or simply just laze around on the one of your preference. Each is unique with its own character, and each will be a joy to go to.

Most vacationers make their first trip to the island of Oahu in order to take in Honolulu and Waikiki beach. On the South shore of Oahu are Pearl Harbor along with the famous USS Arizona Museum, however there is considerably more to see and do in Hawaii. While you can find flights to the neighbor Islands non-stop from the mainland, the majority of flights connect via the Hawaii International Airport on Oahu.

Should you travel north of Oahu, you’ll come to the island of Kauai, the most northerly as well as the oldest of the Hawaii Islands. This is an island of remarkable beauty with the magnificent golden sands of the Coconut Coast to the east and the Waimea Canyon on the west side. Waimea Canyon is termed the ‘Grand Canyon of the Pacific’, and the reason why will be obvious when you visit it. Nearby is the delightful Kokee State Park that provides several trails you can easily take to experience rainforest plant life along with the endangered bird species making their home here.

Travel south from Oahu and you’ll find the island of Molokai. Molokai has a large concentration of people of native Hawaiian descent, and they continue to be strongly connected to their rich culture and customs of the past.

The next island in the chain is Lanai. This island does not have even one traffic light and everyday life is slower here than found on the other islands. On Lanai are found two very good golf courses.

And then we come to Maui, the second largest of the Hawaiian Islands. This island is in the humpback whale migration route, so it’s fantastic for whale watching at the right time of year throughout the winter. The beaches here are remarkable, and the first choice for those wanting a peaceful beach vacation.

Unsurprisingly, the largest sized island in the Hawaiian Islands is called the ‘Big Island’. This island features more land area than all the other islands combined, and has 11 of the 13 climates found on earth. It includes features as diverse as sandy beaches, snowy mountains and the world’s most active volcano. The Big Island is truly a fantastic and unique place to experience on your Hawaii vacation.

A cruise in Hawaii is a way to travel to the islands. A seven-day voyage offers you about a day and a half at each of the Hawaiian Islands with superb cuisine and accommodations onboard the cruise ship. Most cruises start out and end in Honolulu and feature entertainment during your travel around the islands.

Should you decide to visit the islands, you will find thousands of hotel rooms available. In addition, you’ll find a Hawaii vacation rental to choose from for a relaxed home-away-from-home accommodation while you are in Hawaii.
