The fat smash diet was created for a VH1 show called Celebrity Fit Club, created by the diet’s author Dr. Ian Smith. The diet relies on improving eating and exercise habits.

There are four phases within the fat smash diet:
One – detox: During this nine day phase of the fat smash diet people purge their bodies and minds of bad things, while losing up to six pounds. This phase includes some strange but ineffective suggestions such as weighing yourself in the nude and being photographed in a bathing suit.
Two – foundation: The smash diet uses this three wekk phase to re-add some of the foods cut out during detox. This is all based on controlling portions, such as eating 3 ounces of meat.
Three – construction: The fat smash diet builds a healthy eating plan over the course of these four weeks, utilizing foods the dieter enjoys. These foods can include desserts, pasta, bread, and many other foods restricted another types of diets such as the Atkins diet. In the fat smash diet moderation is the key.
Four – Temple: This part of the fat smash diet lasts a life time. Dr. Smith refers to the work done in the other three phases as the Temple, which must be maintained with continued diligence in moderation achieved through self-control.
Overall the fat smash diet is just OK. The initial 6 to 10 pound weight loss is really due to severe calorie cutting which can be dangerous. In addition the nine day detox is considered unhealthy by many health experts. But the fat smash diet is spot on when it comes to eating in moderation and physical activity.
