Where does metal come from?

Most metals are found in the ground as ore. An ore is a naturally found object like a rock for example. An ore contains metal or mineral properties that can be extracted. Different rocks represent different properties and so the metal type is dependent on the particular kinds of rock.

Similar to Cole mining, ores are dug out from the ground using massive deep digging equipment. These rocks are ground up small to later be placed into a high temperature furnace. The extreme high eat furnace converts the ore into pure metal to make ingots (metal bars).

When the metal has been transferred to make an ingot, it can then be used to make things like cars, soda cans etc. The process of converting an ingot bar of metal into a physical and useful object is named aluminum casting.

Aluminum is a commonly used metal.

When you think of products that use aluminum you think cans of cola and soft drinks, car bodies, tractor trailers, eyeglass frames, bikes, foil, antenna, most car parts, cans, trays, wiring, kitchen utensils, computers to name a few.

Aluminum is the most popular form of metal because it doesn’t rust, stronger than steel, cheaper than copper and widely available.

For the aluminum products that we use every day to be converted from solid aluminum to product has to undergo a process called casting.

Custom Castings manufacture high quality aluminum and Zinc alloy castings. From design to delivery Custom Castings is your aluminum/zinc casting experts.
